SODA ASH is sodium carbonate (Na2 CO3), SODA ASH is used primarily to treat calcium contamination in water-based mud or make-up water.
PHYSICAL & CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
|pH||11.5 (1% aqueous solution)|
|Solubility||Soluble in hot and partially soluble in cold water|
SODA ASH is primarily used to remove soluble Calcium ions coming from cement contamination or from penetrated anhydrite formations, and used to precipitate Calcium in make-up water.
The drilling fluid should be pre-treated with approx. 1.4 kg/ m3 (0.5 Lb. /Bbl.) SODA ASH to prevent CMC or NC-BENT flocculation. 1 kg of SODA ASH will remove 0.38 kg of Calcium ions or 0.23 Kg of Magnesium ions.
SODA ASH is available in 25 kg and 50 kg plastic waterproof sacks, palletized as 40 sacks of 25 kg and 20 sacks of 50 kg per pallet.
